About Le Moyne College

Le Moyne College, often abbreviated LMC, is a private, co-educational college of liberal arts and sciences, located in Syracuse, New York, United States.

Founded in 1946, the college is the second youngest of the 28 Jesuit colleges and universities, in the U.S., and the first to open as a co-educational institution. It is named in honor of Simon Le Moyne, a Jesuit priest, missionary and teacher, who had a considerable influence on Central New York. The institution still respects the Catholic and Jesuit tradition and is accredited to award Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science degrees in 31 different majors, master’s degrees in nursing, business administration, physician assistant studies and education. The Le Moyne College campus is spread on 160 acres, comprising 35 major and minor buildings. The college is recognized as one of `America's Best Colleges`, among regional universities (those with a master's degree program) in the North.

Athletics

Le Moyne College's athletic teams are called the Dolphins and compete in NCAA Division II, in several sports, for both men and women. Their official colours are green and gold. In 2004, 2006 and 2007, the college's men's lacrosse team won the national championship.
